What is the Great Northern Conspiracy?

As we all eagerly await Season 6 of Game of Thrones, those of you who have read the books may be wondering: What is the Great Northern Conspiracy?

Considering the  Season 5 finale, you may be surprised that -- like so many other fan theories -- the Great Northern Conspiracy revolves around Jon Snow.

Who is the Valonqar?

Game of Thrones is full of misdirected clues and half-answered questions. One of the more obscure questions floating around book circles and cyberspace is: Who (or what) is the Valonqar?

You heard it hear first, folks. The Valonqar is . . .

Alleras is Sarella Sand?

It has been floating around the interwebs that Alleras, one of the novices at the Citadel (mentioned in A Feast for Crows), is really one of Oberyn Martell's bastard daughters: Sarella Sand.

Ellen Brock's Novel Boot Camp 2015

If you are not familiar with Ellen Brock, you should be. I referenced one of her amazing writing videos in my post about filtering.

Ellen began her annual Novel Boot Camp on August 1st. She does everything from reading and commenting on viewers' "First Pages" to providing lectures and workshops on writing and editing (whew! What a mouthful!).

I would personally recommend checking out her "I Stopped Reading When . . . " posts, where she takes viewers' submitted first pages and gives feedback on their opening lines.

If you want a great online resource for improving your writing, Ellen Brock is it.

What Is on Your Reading List for August 2015?

I have recently gotten my hands on a copy of The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen, so I know what my first book for August is going to be.

Tell me: What do you plan to read in August? Leave a comment. Who knows. Maybe we have the same book on our lists :)

Tyrion . . . Targaryean?

The dragon has three heads, but who are they?

Image: HBO

In a previous post, I asserted that Jon Snow and Meera Reed could possibly be the other two heads of the dragon (potentially being Targaryen bastards). However, there is another potential bastard that I did not mention: Tyrion Lannister.

Everything You Know about Game of Thrones Is a Lie

In an earlier post, I talked about why the White Walkers are suddenly back after being MIA for 8,000.

But what if I was wrong?

I read a fan theory which asserted that -- Wait for it . . . -- the Walkers are the 'good guys.'

And the theory kind of makes sense. In fact, here is some evidence to support it:

Where Have the White Walkers Been?

While writing my post on why the prologue for A Game of Thrones is the best you will ever read, I wondered: Where have the Walkers been this entire time?

We know from the prologue that White Walkers haven't been seen for over 8000 years, so: what made the Walkers suddenly want to show up?

Here are a couple of theories.
